The Reddy Case

While the salacious details of the Reddy case (i.e. using the program to import sex slaves) are unusual, the manner in which Reddy abuse the system are not. Mr. Reddy was able to:

  • Get an H-1B visa for a programming job for someone who was not a programmer.
  • Get a labor certification claiming the prevailing wage for a programming in the San Francisco Bay area was $42,000 a year. (The national average is about $58,000. In the Bay area it is substancially higher.)
  • Get H-4 dependent visas for people who were not dependents.
  • Have the "programmer" work as a waiter.
  • Survive an INS audit.
  • Survive a police investigation after the death of one of the sex slaves.

Mr. Reddy would have gotten away with it all had it not been for a high school newspaper. Those who are caught abusing the H-1B program are just the unlucky ones.
